About Joseph Owusu Akyaw

Mr. Joseph Owusu-Akyaw is the initiating partner in the Accra Mall development. He is a professional and a career Banker who spent over twenty years in Commercial and Development Banking, with fourteen years in managerial and executive positions.

Highly innovative, Mr. Joseph Owusu Akyaw is credited with the conception, appraisal and establishment of the Social Security Bank (now SG-SSB Bank) and a pioneering role in the establishment of the National Trust Holding Company Limited, NTHC, established to function as a Unit Trust, Stockbrokers and a forerunner to the Ghana Stock Exchange.

For many years, he worked in various capacities as Banking and Financial Consultant and a Rural Credit and Cost Recovery expert, mainly for the World Bank, UNDP, GTZ, UNICEF and Bank of Ghana. Currently, he has been engaged in the promotion and development of the Accra Shopping Mall in association with ACTIS, a leading South African private equity investor in emerging markets. For this he incorporated the Inter City Hotels Limited in 1978 as a special vehicle company for the project.
